Cork has been recognized through the centuries for its beauty, durability and stable properties. Cork floors have been popular in Europe for over 100 years and can be seen in this country in many prestigious locations including the Library of Congress. The cork oak tree is a member of the beech family and grows in the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. These slow-growing trees are harvested of their cork bark every nine years, and the average life expectancy is between 100 and 120 years, though there are trees that are 400 to 500 years old.

Natural Properties of Cork:

• Hypoallergenic and does not off-gas or shed fibers.

• Naturally fire retardant and will not release toxic gas on combustion.

• Resistant to over 38 species of insects including termites.

• Thermal insulator with over 100 million air-filled prism shaped cells per cubic inch.

• Impervious to the growth of microorganisms such as mold and mildew.

• Naturally buoyant and is impervious to moisture.

• Naturally sound absorbent and reduces impact noise.

Durability: Pre-finished cork flooring is protected with 3 to 5 coats of durable UV cured acrylic finish. When properly installed and maintained, cork flooring will last for generations.

Comfort: Cork provides a very comfortable cushion underfoot. Cork naturally “bounces” back, so marks from furniture will leave minimal residual indentation, muck less noticeable than on carpet or vinyl floors.

What is a Floating Floor System?

Cork flooring is available in many colors and patterns and is easy to install using the 1 x 3 foot tongue & groove planks featuring easy ‘CLIC System’ installation. Use of the patented click system results in:

• Labor saving rapid installation

• No need for messy adhesives

• Tighter Joints; less visible seams
